2. COLLECTION, PROCESSING AND USE OF PERSONAL DATA

2.1 PERSONAL DATA

Personal data is information about the actual or personal circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, your phone number, your address and any inventory information you provide to us when you register and create a customer account. This does not include statistical data we collect, for example, when you visit our website that cannot be directly linked to your person. These include, for example, statistics about which pages of our website are particularly popular or how many users visit certain pages of the NORSAN website.

2.2 CUSTOMER ACCOUNT

As part of the ordering process, you can create your personal customer account on the order checkout page by entering a password. Here you can view details of your completed, open and recently shipped orders and manage your data. You undertake to keep your personal access data confidential and not to make it accessible to unauthorized third parties. We cannot accept liability for misuse of passwords unless we are responsible for the misuse. Of course, you may revoke your consent to create a customer account at any time with future effect. A notification (e.g. e-mail, telephone, fax, letter) is sufficient for this purpose. As a result, we will delete your data completely, unless it is needed for billing or accounting purposes. It is also possible to place an order without creating a customer account.

2.3 COLLECTION, PROCESSING AND USE OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Data protection is very important to us. Therefore, when collecting, processing and using your personal data, we strictly adhere to the legal provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act, the Telemedia Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016. We collect, store and process your data for the full processing of your purchase, including any subsequent guarantees, for our services, technical administration and our own marketing purposes. Your personal data is only transmitted or otherwise passed on to third parties if this is necessary for contract processing or invoicing or if you have given your prior consent. In the context of order processing, for example, the service providers we use here (such as carriers, logistics companies, banks) receive the necessary data for order and order processing. The data transmitted in this way may only be used by our service providers to perform their task. Any other use of the information is not permitted and does not take place at any of the service providers entrusted by us. We need your correct name, address and payment information for your order. We need your e-mail address to confirm receipt of your order and to communicate with you. We also use this for your identification (customer login). You will also receive confirmation of your order and shipment via your e-mail address. Your personal data will be deleted unless legal retention obligations prevent this and if you have submitted a request for deletion, if the data is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was stored or if its storage is inadmissible for other legal reasons.

We will retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which the personal data was collected, taking into account the need for us to respond to your inquiries or resolve problems, comply with requirements under applicable law, handle any legal claims/complaints, and also for security purposes.

This means that we can and should retain your personal information for a reasonable period of time after your last interaction with us. When the personal data we collect is no longer needed, we will destroy it in a secure manner. We may process data for statistical purposes. In such cases, however, the data will be anonymized.

2.3.1 Data processing when integrating the trust badge/other widgets

The trust badge is provided by a U.S. content delivery network (CDN) provider. An appropriate level of data protection is guaranteed by standard data protection clauses and other contractual measures.

When the Trustbadge is accessed, the web server automatically saves a so-called server log file, which also contains your IP address, the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider (access data) and documents the access. The IP address is anonymized immediately after collection, so that the stored data cannot be linked to your person. The anonymized data is used in particular for statistical purposes and error analysis.

2.3.2 Data processing after completion of order

After the order is completed, the order data (order totals, order number, product purchased if applicable) and your email address are hashed using a cryptological one-way function and transmitted to Trusted Shops. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. This serves to check whether you are already registered for services at Trusted Shops and is therefore necessary for the protection of our overriding legitimate interests and those of Trusted Shops in the provision of transaction assessment services linked to the respective order in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. If you have registered, further processing takes place in accordance with the agreement concluded between you and Trusted Shops. If you have not yet registered for the services, you will then be given the opportunity to do so for the first time. Further processing after registration also takes place on the basis of the contractual agreement with Trusted Shops. If you have not yet registered for the services, you will then be given the opportunity to consent to receive invitations for reviews. If you do not give your consent, all transmitted data will be automatically deleted by Trusted Shops and a personal referral will no longer be possible.

Trusted Shops uses service providers in the areas of hosting, monitoring and logging. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR to ensure trouble-free operation. Processing may take place in third countries (USA and Israel). An adequate level of data protection is ensured in the US by standard data protection clauses and other contractual measures and in Israel by an adequacy decree. More information can be found here.

2.3.3 Using Hotjar

We use Hotjar (located: Level 2, St Julian's Business Centre, 3, Elia Zammit Street, St Julian's STJ 1000, Malta), an all-in-one analysis and feedback tool that shows the online behavior and feedback of website visitors. We use Hotjar to analyze user feedback (such as clicks, mouse movements, scroll heights, etc.) to improve our website in terms of functionality and usability and to make it more user-friendly. Website visit information generated by the "tracking code" and "cookies" is transmitted to and stored on Hotjar servers in Ireland.

This information may be collected by the "tracking code" through your end device and browser:

  • IP address of your device (it is collected and stored in anonymized format)
  • Device screen size
  • Type of end device (individual identification characteristics of end devices) and browser information
  • Geographic location (country only)
  • preferred language when displaying the website.

This log data can be recorded by the "tracking code."

  • referring domain
  • visited pages
  • geographic location (country only)
  • preferred language when viewing the website
  • Date and time the pages of the website were visited

You can prevent Hotjar from collecting your data on this page at any time: https://www.hotjar.com/legal/compliance/opt-out/

You can also activate the "Do not track" feature in the settings of all standard browsers. This automatically lets all visited websites know that you object to your data being stored.

The privacy policy of Hotjar Ltd. can be found at

https://www.hotjar.com/privacy

2.4 USE OF YOUR DATA FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES

In addition to processing your data to process your purchase from NORSAN, we also use your data to communicate with you about your orders, specific products or marketing campaigns and to recommend products or services that may be of interest to you. You may object at any time to the use of your personal data for advertising purposes, either as a whole or for individual measures, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to the basic rates. A message to the contact details listed under point 1 (e.g. e-mail, telephone, fax, letter) is sufficient for this purpose.

2.4.1 NEWSLETTER

We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for sending the newsletter, i.e. we only send you a newsletter by e-mail if you have explicitly confirmed to us in advance to activate the newsletter service. We will then send you an e-mail as notification and ask you to confirm that you want to receive our newsletter by clicking on a link in this e-mail. Should you later no longer wish to receive newsletters from us, you may object at any time without incurring any costs other than the postage costs according to the basic rates. A message in text form to the contact data listed under point 1 (e.g. e-mail, telephone, fax, letter) is sufficient for this purpose. Of course, you will also find an unsubscribe link in every newsletter.

2.4.2 PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS BY E-MAIL, FAX OR MAIL

As a customer (product purchased or service received) of NORSAN, you will from time to time receive product recommendations from us by e-mail, fax or mail. You will receive these product recommendations from us whether or not you have signed up for a newsletter. In this way, we want to inform you about products from our range that may be of interest to you based on your recent purchases from us. In doing so, we strictly adhere to the legal requirements. If you no longer wish to receive product recommendations or advertising messages from us, you may object at any time without incurring any costs other than the transmission fees according to the basic rates. A message to the contact details listed under point 1 (e.g. e-mail, telephone, fax, letter) is sufficient for this purpose. Of course, you will also find an unsubscribe link in every e-mail.

2.4.3 MAKE CONTACT

When NORSAN is contacted (e.g., via a contact form or e-mail), the user's information is stored to process the request and in case there are follow-up questions.

2.4.4 CONTESTS AND OPINION RESEARCH

In the case of contests, we use your data to notify you of the prize. Detailed information can be found in our terms of participation for the respective contest. Your answers to surveys will not be passed on to third parties or published. NORSAN uses and processes my personal data for opinion research for its own purposes. You may object at any time to the use of data for opinion research, either in its entirety or for specific measures, without incurring any costs other than the transmission fees according to the basic rates. A message to the contact details listed under point 1 (e.g. e-mail, telephone, fax, letter) is sufficient for this purpose. Of course, you will also find an unsubscribe link in each survey e-mail.

3. COOKIES

Accepting cookies is not a prerequisite for visiting our website. However, we would like to remind you that our website and service will have limited functionality if you do not allow us to set cookies.

What are cookies? Cookies are small files stored on your data carrier that save certain settings and data for exchange with our system via your browser. There are basically 2 different types of cookies: so-called session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close your browser, and temporary/permanent cookies, which are stored on your data carrier for a longer period of time or indefinitely. This storage helps us tailor our websites and our offers to you and make them easier for you to use, for example by saving certain entries you make so that you do not have to keep repeating them.

What cookies does NORSAN use? Most cookies we use are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of the browser session (hence session cookies). For example, session cookies are needed to offer you the shopping cart function on different pages. We also use cookies that remain on your hard drive. On your next visit, this automatically recognizes that you have visited us before and which entries and settings you prefer. These temporary or permanent cookies are stored on your hard drive and delete themselves after the specified time. These cookies serve in particular to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. They make it possible, for example, to display information on the site specifically tailored to your interests. The sole purpose of these cookies is to tailor our website to your needs and make your browsing experience as pleasant as possible.

What data is stored in cookies? Only pseudonymized data are stored in the cookies used by NORSAN. When the cookie is activated, it is assigned an identification number and your personal data are not linked to this identification number. Your name, IP address or similar data through which the cookie can be assigned to you are not stored in the cookie. Based on the cookie technology, we receive only pseudonymized information, e.g. about which pages of our shop were visited, which products were viewed, etc.

What is onsite targeting? NORSAN websites collect data based on cookie technology to optimize our advertisements and the entire online offer. This data is not used to identify you personally, but only to analyze the use of the website under a pseudonym. At no time is your data merged with personal data stored by us. This technology enables us to present you with advertisements and/or special offers and services whose content is based on the information obtained in connection with the clickstream analysis (for example, advertisements tailored to the fact that only children's products have been viewed in the past few days). Our goal here is to make our online offerings as attractive to you as possible and to show you ads that match your areas of interest.

Are there any third-party cookies (so-called third-party cookies)? NORSAN uses some advertising partners that help to make the Internet offer and the websites more interesting for you, such as videos from YouTube, map material from Google Maps, RSS feeds or images from other websites. This always assumes that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as "external providers") recognize the user's IP address. This is because without the IP address they would not be able to send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore required to display this content. We strive to use only content whose respective providers use only the IP address to deliver the content. However, we have no influence on whether the external providers store the IP address, for example, for statistical purposes. Insofar as we are aware of this, we will inform users accordingly. Cookies from partner companies are therefore also stored on your hard drive when you visit the websites. These are temporary/permanent cookies that are automatically deleted after a certain time. The cookies of our partner companies also contain only pseudonymous data, mostly even anonymous data.

Re-targeting Our websites use so-called re-targeting technologies. We use these technologies to make our website more interesting for you. This technology makes it possible to target ads on our partners' websites to Internet users who have already shown interest in our store and our products. We believe that the display of personalized, interest-related ads is generally more interesting to Internet users than ads that are not based on this personal information. These ads are displayed on our partners' websites based on cookie technology and an analysis of previous user behavior. This form of advertising is completely pseudonymous. No user profiles are merged with your personal data. By using our website, you consent to the use of cookies and thus to the collection, storage and use of your usage data. Moreover, your data are stored in cookies after the end of the browser session and can, for example, be called up again the next time you visit the website. You can revoke this consent with effect for the future at any time by refusing to accept cookies in your browser settings.

How can you avoid saving cookies?

You may set your browser to store cookies only if you agree. If you wish to accept only NORSAN's cookies, but not those of our service providers and partners, you may select the "Block third-party cookies" setting in your browser. Generally, the help function in the menu bar of your web browser will show you how to reject new cookies and disable cookies already received. We recommend that you always log out completely when you are finished using shared computers set to accept cookies and Flash cookies.

You can manage your cookie settings for our site by clicking the following button. Accepting cookies is not a prerequisite for visiting our website. However, we would like to remind you that our website and service will have limited functionality if you do not allow us to set cookies.

4. LOGS

Each time the NORSAN Web site is visited, usage data are transmitted by the respective Internet browser and stored in log files called server log files. The stored data records contain the following information: Name of the visited website, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and requesting provider. Users' IP addresses are deleted or anonymized after the end of use. In the case of anonymization, the IP addresses are changed in such a way that individual data about personal or factual circumstances can no longer be assigned to a specific or identifiable natural person, or only with a disproportionate amount of time, cost and labor. We analyze these log files in anonymized form to further improve our offer and the NORSAN website and to make it more user-friendly, to find and correct errors more quickly and to monitor server capacity. For example, we can find out at what times the NORSAN website is particularly popular and make the corresponding data volume available to ensure that you can store as quickly as possible. In addition, by analyzing log files, we can quickly detect any errors on the NORSAN website.

5. WEB ANALYSIS

5.1 GA4 (Google Analytics 4)

If you have given your consent, this website uses Google Analytics. This is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (hereinafter referred to as "Google"). This makes it possible to assign data, sessions and interactions on multiple devices to a pseudonymous user ID and thus analyze a user's activities on different devices.

In Google Analytics 4, IP address anonymization is activated by default. As a result of IP anonymization, your IP address is truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other countries that have signed the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be forwarded to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. According to Google, the IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.

However, we would like to expressly point out that Google processes data for its own purposes, in particular to provide its web analysis and tracking service. Within the scope of Google Analytics, further usage data are collected that are to be evaluated as personal data, such as identification characteristics of individual users, which, for example, also allow a link to an existing Google account.

During your visit to the website, your user behavior is recorded in the form of events. Events may include:

  • Page views
  • First visit to the website
  • Beginning of the session
  • Your "click path," interacting with the website
  • Scrolling (when a user scrolls to the bottom of the page (90%))
  • Clicking on external links
  • Internal searches
  • Interacting with videos
  • Download files
  • Ads viewed/clicked
  • language setting

Purposes of processing

Google uses this information on our behalf to analyze your use of the website and compile reports on website activity. Google Analytics reports are used to analyze the performance of our website and the success of our marketing campaigns.

You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie that relates to your use of this website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available from the following link. Learn more about Google Analytics and data protection at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

5.1.1 Google Analytics in consent mode

Depending on your consent, your personal data will be processed by Google Analytics in the so-called consent mode. You can choose whether or not to consent to Google Analytics' cookies. This also allows you to choose which data Google Analytics may process from you. The data collected is used primarily to measure user behavior on the website, to display targeted advertising and to provide us with web analysis reports. As a rule, you consent to data processing by Google via a cookie consent tool. If you do not consent to data processing, only aggregated data is collected and processed. This means that data cannot be assigned to individual users and thus no user profile is created for you. You can also only consent to statistical measurements. No personal data will be processed and therefore will not be used for advertising or advertising success.

5.1.2 Google Analytics Option: Activated Google Signals

Google signals are session data from websites and apps that Google associates with users who have logged into their Google account and activated ad personalization. This association of data with these logged-in users is used to enable cross-device reporting, cross-device remarketing and cross-device conversion measurements. This includes: Cross-platform reporting - linking data on devices and activity from different sessions using your user ID or Google Signals data, enabling insights into user behavior at each step of the conversion process, from initial contact to conversion and beyond; Remarketing with Google Analytics - creating remarketing audiences based on Google Analytics data and sharing these audiences with linked ad accounts; Demographics and Interests - Google Analytics collects additional information about demographics and interests of users who are logged into their Google accounts and have ad personalization enabled;

5.1.3 Google Analytics Option: No collection of detailed location and device data

Detailed location and device data are not collected (more information: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/12017362).

5.1.4 Google Analytics option: targeting (analytics audiences)

We use Google Analytics to display the ads placed within the advertising services of Google and its partners only to users who have also shown interest in our online offerings or who have certain characteristics (e.g., interest in certain topics or products determined based on the websites visited) that we pass on to Google (so-called "remarketing" or "Google Analytics audiences"). Using remarketing audiences, we also want to ensure that our ads match users' potential interest.

5.2 Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a solution that allows us to manage so-called website tags through an interface and thus integrate other services into our online offerings (see further information in this privacy policy). The Tag Manager itself (which implements the tags) does not create user profiles or store cookies, for example. Google only learns the user's IP address, which is necessary to run the Google Tag Manager.

5.2.1 Google Tag Manager (server-side usage)

Google Tag Manager is an application that allows us to manage so-called website tags through an interface and thus integrate other services into our online offerings (see also the further information in this privacy policy). The Tag Manager itself (which implements the tags) does not store any user profiles or cookies. The other services are integrated on the server side. This means that user data is not sent directly from their end device to the respective service or Google. In particular, the user's IP address is not passed on to the other service. Instead, the data is first sent to our server, where the user's data records are assigned to our internal user identification number. The subsequent transfer of the data from our server to the servers of the respective service providers takes place only in this pseudonymized form. The user identification number does not contain unique data such as names or e-mail addresses.

5.3 GOOGLE ADWORDS CONVERSION TRACKING

We use the online advertising program "Google AdWords" and conversion tracking as part of Google AdWords. Google Conversion Tracking is an analytics service provided by Google Inc (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; "Google"). When you click on a Google ad, a conversion tracking cookie is stored on your computer. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days, contain no personal data and are therefore not used for personal identification.

If you visit certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that you clicked on the ad and were redirected to this page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Therefore, it is not possible to track cookies through the websites of AdWords customers.

The information collected with the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking. This tells clients the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that identifies users personally.

If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can object to this use by preventing the installation of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly (deactivation option). You will then not be included in conversion tracking statistics. More information and Google's privacy policy can be found at: http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/, http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/

5.4 Zoho SalesIQ

When you visit our website, anonymized usage data is collected using the ZOHO SalesIQ service(https://zoho.eu/salesiq). SalesIQ uses so-called "cookies", which allow our website to be analyzed. These cookies also collect information about how visitors use the website, which website the user came from, the number of visits of each user and the duration of the visit to the websites. You can prevent this "tracking" by making the appropriate settings in your browser. We store this data for statistical purposes only. IP addresses are abbreviated with the last digits to ensure anonymity.

Zoho is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. You can find Zoho Corporation's privacy policy and cookie policy under the following links:

https://www.zoho.com/de/privacy.html
https://www.zoho.com/de/privacy/cookie-policy.html

Data entered via chat are therefore processed solely on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 paragraph 1 letter a GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time. All you have to do is to send us an informal e-mail. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

6. Tool for recommendations.

Your personal data may be processed by us because your friend (after consultation with you) wants to send you a recommendation for our site. For this purpose, your friend has entered your e-mail address on our website. In this case, we naturally process your e-mail address only in encrypted form to send you an e-mail with your discount coupon. The legal basis for the data processing is our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR) to send you the discount coupon.

7. META

7.1. CONVERSION PIXEL

With your permission, NORSAN uses so-called "conversion pixels" from Meta, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (formerly "Facebook, Inc."; Meta is the new name behind the well-known website "facebook.com"). This allows tracking users' behavior on our website after a user clicks on or views an ad on Meta. This serves to measure and evaluate the success of ads for statistical and marketing purposes and, if necessary, to optimize ads in the future. For us, the data collected in this way is not personal, but anonymous - that is, we cannot assign it to a specific person. However, Meta stores and processes the data about which we inform you below to the best of our knowledge: I am aware of Meta's use of the conversion pixel. If you are under 13, please ask your parent or guardian for permission. This allows Meta to connect to the respective user profiles. Meta may also use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with Meta's data policy (available at https://www.facebook.com/policy). Meta and its partners may use this data to serve ads on facebook.com and outside facebook.com and cookies may be stored on users' computers for this purpose. You can object to this use at any time by disabling cookies in your browser settings.

7.2. Facebook Conversion API

We have integrated Facebook Conversion API on this website. The provider of this service is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. However, according to Meta, the data collected is also transferred to the United States and other third countries.

Facebook Conversion API allows us to record website visitor interactions with our website and pass them on to Meta to improve Meta's ad performance.

In particular, the time of the call, the website called up, your IP address and your user agent and, if applicable, other specific data (e.g. products purchased, shopping cart value and currency) are recorded. A complete overview of the data that may be collected can be found here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/conversions-api/parameters.

The use of this service is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG. Consent may be revoked at any time.

If personal data is collected on our website using the tool described here and transmitted to Meta, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland are jointly responsible for this data processing (Art. 26 GDPR). The joint responsibility is limited exclusively to the collection of the data and its transmission to Meta. The processing by Meta after the transfer is not part of the joint responsibility. The obligations jointly incumbent upon us are set forth in a joint processing agreement. The text of the agreement can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum. According to this agreement, we are responsible for providing data protection information when using the Meta tool and for the secure implementation of the tool on our website in accordance with data protection legislation. Meta is responsible for the data security of the Meta products. You may assert your rights as a data subject (e.g., requests for information) regarding the data processed by Meta directly with Meta. If you assert your rights as a data subject with us, we are obliged to pass them on to Meta.

Data transfer to the US is based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/legal/EU_data_transfer_addendum and https://de-de.facebook.com/help/566994660333381.
