Many people take NORSAN oil pure with a spoon. However, you can also use the oil as a "normal" ingredient in the kitchen and mix it directly into various dishes. For example, you can easily mix the oil into your orange juice, smoothie or salad dressing.

Here's what to watch out for when taking omega-3s

1 Spoonful of omega-3 per day

The general recommended dosage is 2,000 mg omega-3 per day. This is evidenced by scientific studies and more than 30,000 of our individual fatty acid analyses. This is equivalent to about 1 tablespoon Omega-3 Total and Omega-3 Arktis or 1 teaspoon Omega-3 Vegan per day. If you are new to NORSAN, we often recommend a double dose over a regulatory phase of about 3 months.

Regular intake

Regular intake is the key to success. Every day one serving of omega-3 - because it is only possible to achieve therapeutic and protective effects by taking them regularly.

Take with or after meals

We recommend taking omega-3 in combination with with a meal.The reason for this is better absorption of the fatty acids in the body. On an empty stomach, fat digestion is not normally stimulated, so there is a risk that only a small portion of the valuable oil will actually be absorbed by the body. It is important that the oil not be heated. It does not matter whether the oil is taken in the morning, afternoon or evening, the most important thing is to combine it with a meal.

NORSAN as part of your diet

If you have an omega-3 deficiency, it is important to supplement NORSAN omega-3 oils so that the omega-3 index and omega-6/3 ratio in the body rise to favorable levels. However, if you stop taking them again, the values drop and you are back to square one. Therefore, it is important to find a way to incorporate NORSAN oils into our lives as part of our normal long-term diet. Smoothie with omega-3

Wash the blackberries carefully and put them in the blender. Peel the banana, cut into large slices and add to the blender as well. Rinse the lime under warm water, cut in half and squeeze by hand over the blender. Now add the cold water. Then blend on high speed. If necessary, add a little water to reach the desired consistency. Then stir in 1 tablespoon Omega-3 Total or 1 teaspoon Omega-3 Vegan and garnish with blackberries and a slice of lime, if desired.

Oatmeal with omega-3

  • 200 ml of milk or cashew drink
  • 50 g oat flakes
  • 2 tbsp. cashew sauce
  • 2 (ripe) bananas
  • 2 EL Omega-3 Total or 2 TL Omega-3 Vegan

Pour 200 ml of milk or cashew drink into a saucepan and heat. Add 50 g of oatmeal and bring to a boil while stirring. At the same time, peel and slice 2 bananas. Heat the milk oatmeal mixture over low heat and keep stirring until desired consistency. Now add 1/2 of the banana slices and 1 tbsp of cashew butter to the pan and stir well. Pour the porridge into a bowl and decorate with the remaining half of the banana slices and add 1 tbsp of cashew butter. Enrich slightly cooled porridge with 1 tbsp. Omega-3 Total or 1 tsp Omega-3 Vegan.

Recommendations for children on the use and intake of omega-3 oils

For children, we recommend our Omega-3 Kids with delicious orange flavor. Depending on body weight, we recommend the dosage in the table.

However, in principle, all our products are also suitable for children. It is important to calculate the dosage according to weight*.

Breastfeeding mothers provide themselves and their child with optimal nutrition by taking a daily supplement of 2,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (1 tablespoon).

* The recommendation of our oils is based on a 75 kg adult. Therefore, a 15 kg child would need approximately ⅕ of the recommendation for an adult.
