Healthy red cabbage salad with omega-3

Discover a delicious recipe for a healthy red cabbage salad with omega-3, perfect for about 6 servings. This salad combines the crunchy texture of red cabbage with a flavorful dressing based on olive oil, mustard, orange juice, apple cider vinegar and a touch of honey. Season with salt and pepper for a perfectly balanced flavor. For an extra nutritional boost, add sources of omega-3, such as walnuts or chia seeds. Enjoy this colorful and nutritious salad as a side dish or as a light meal on its own.

Ingredients for about 6 servings

1 small red cabbage (about 850g)
2 tsp salt
5 tbsp olive oil
1.5 tbsp. mustard
Juice of 2 oranges
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1-2 tbsp. honey (or maple syrup)
Pepper to taste

Toppings: walnuts, dill, optional feta1 tsp NORSAN Omega- Vegan or an omega-3 oil of your choice

Preparation:

  • Carefully wash the red cabbage, remove the stalk and cut into thin strips. You can also use a peeler to do this.
  • Sprinkle the red cabbage with salt and knead vigorously for about 5 minutes. Then let rest in the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes. Kneading breaks up the fibers of the red cabbage and makes it tastier, softer and more digestible.
  • If a lot of water has collected from the red cabbage at the bottom, it can be briefly drained. Then season with mustard, pepper, honey, apple cider vinegar and olive oil.
  • Finally, add toasted walnut seeds and vegetables and serve with a spoonful NORSAN Omega-3 oil.
